Who we are

Wunsch Farms is a sixth generation cherry and apple farm located on the Old Mission Peninsula. We sell fresh cherries and apples under the Wunsch Farms and Third Coast Fruit Co. labels, and pride ourselves on our ability to deliver a particularly high quality product to our customers. In addition to our fruit sales, we also offer complete at al la carte orchard management service to neighboring farms.

Isaiah Wunsch

Isaiah spent his early years working on the farm, and decided to come back and make it into his life’s work in 2015. He is passionate about agriculture, and cold climate tree fruit farming in particular, and has visited orchards and farmers on five continents and over twenty different countries. He spends an embarrassing amount of time thinking and talking about new cherry and apple varieties, soil health, and pruning. In addition to his interest in the technical aspects of farming, Isaiah has a keen interest in farmland preservation on the rolling hills of the Old Mission Peninsula and is a stalwart fan of the work of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and Peninsula Township’s Purchase of Development Rights program.

When he is not out in the orchards, Isaiah enjoys spending time with his toddler, Zavi; his adorable spouse Attia and the rest of the Wunsch Farms family on the many amazing recreational trails and beaches that northern Michigan has to offer.

Raul Gomez

Raul Gomez is the Chief of Operations for Third Coast Fruit Company, where he oversees the company’s growing, packing, and day-to-day operations. He works closely with growers and staff on everything from orchard management and logistics to production and quality control. Raul has years of experience in fruit production and farm operations in Northern Michigan. He also serves on the Peninsula Township Agricultural Advisory Committee, where he works with local farmers, township leaders, and community members on farmland preservation and agricultural sustainability.

He and his wife own and operate their own small cherry orchard on Old Mission Peninsula, where they are raising their young son. Raul is committed to supporting local agriculture and the farming community he and his family call home.

Barb Wunsch

Barb is a fifth-generation cherry farmer, and is fiercely passionate about tree fruit production, farmland preservation, and preserving the cultural and historical legacy of the Old Mission Peninsula. Over the past 30 years, Barb has worked as a clinical dietitian in both acute care and long-term care settings. Since she retired from her day job she has become more active in Wunsch Farms. Barb’s primary responsibilities with Wunsch Farms include internet sales of cherries, apple u-pick and the apple donation program and being a step on narrator for bus tours on the Old Mission Peninsula. Barb offered fruit and vegetable CSA shares for 10 years and continues to be challenged with growing vegetables for her extended family.

Barb has served as a trustee with the Peninsula Community Library and as a board member with the Cherry Festival’s Festival Foundation Board.
